Michele Owens, Founder of Fittings By Michele, Certified Mastectomy Fitter and Pharmacist at FBM
Michele and her husband, Matt Owens started Fittings By Michele in 1993 with the dream of starting their own business providing services for women with cancer. Over the last 27 years, FBM expanded services from prosthetics & bras to add swimwear, wigs, headwear, skin care and also providing men, women and children with medical compression garments. Also adding several satellite offices around Maryland. During the pandemic, FBM has remained open in the Pasadena & Ocean Pines offices, with additional safety measures. Frederick opened back up in June, Salisbury opens back July 17th, and we are hopeful to be able to return to Randallstown in August. We are thankful for the support of our customers who placed reorders, those who worked with us through Telehealth appointments and for those who placed their trust in us to come in for a personalized fitting. Your support allowed us to keep our staff on payroll, initially working from home & now transitioned back to a regular office schedule.
During this time, Michele has spent time creating COVID 19 policies, learning technology to work remotely with co-workers, vendors and our customers through Webex. and worked to expand our website to include a new shop online feature. You can now purchase our swimwear online, as well as some of our headwear. We will be working on expanding the shop online feature for other products as time permits. Thank you to Treebranch Group who helped with our website and social media and to many of our vendors who waived drop ship fees and remained open to provide us with products for our clients.
“On the personal side of things…Matt & I, along with our 2 Golden Retrievers, have been spending about half our time at our 2nd home in Ocean Pines which is just 2 miles from our satellite location in Berlin. We are feeling blessed that our family is growing! Our middle son, Collin & his wife who gave us our first grandchild (Haley who turned 2 in May) are expecting a baby boy in the next few weeks. Our youngest son, Cory got married in June on his wife’s family farm in Indiana & we traveled with our oldest son Matthew to join in the beautiful celebration! We are thankful for our staff, our clients and all who helped us keep our business viable during this challenging time in history!”
